It is a great honour to be a candidate for the IOC Athletes' Commission elections in Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
As a 2 x Olympic cross-country skier from Greece, on the road to my 3rd participation in Beijing 2022, I perceive Olympism as a philosophy of life, balancing our qualities of body, will and mind. It might seem impossible for a Greek xc-skier to win a medal at the Winter Games. However, I feel winner through all the values and skills I obtained during my Olympic journey.
To realize my Olympic dreams, I had to pursue a dual career from a young age combining my passion for sport with education and later on with my professional career. It was not an easy path. However, it is very rewarding and prepares you for the day after.
Committed entirely to sport, it would be a great privilege to represent the athletes as a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission to listen to their voice and needs and work together to develop the best conditions for the athletes to continue a balanced lifestyle in every sphere of life.
